Senita Peticia Vincent: Focusing on Values and Practical Learning

Not every dream begins with noise. Some begin with quiet conviction. For Senita Peticia Vincent, that conviction led her to Strathmore University, where she set out to turn her fascination with finance and business into a lifelong mission. The Diploma in Business Management was the blueprint for the future she had always envisioned.

“I have always been interested in finance and the business world,” she says. “And I knew that a Diploma in Business Management would be the perfect foundation for that path.”

But her journey to Strathmore was also deeply personal. Inspired by her sister and brother-in-law, both proud Strathmore alumni, Senita followed in their footsteps, hoping to experience the same transformative education they often spoke of. What she found at Strathmore, however, exceeded even her highest expectations.

“Strathmore gave me a practical understanding of how business works beyond theory,” she explains. “Through class discussions, assignments, and projects, I learned how to apply business principles to real-life situations. It taught me teamwork, ethics, and the importance of sound decision-making.”

Apart from academics, she discovered her voice. From shy and reserved to confident and outspoken, Senita’s transformation was gradual but powerful. “The most rewarding part,” she recalls, “was that feeling of validation when my hard work paid off. And along the way, I became more outgoing and self-assured.”

As class representative, Senita learned the art of leadership through empathy and service. Balancing coursework with student responsibilities, she developed communication and organizational skills that now form the backbone of her professional identity. “Being a class rep taught me that leadership isn’t about being in charge,” she says. “It’s about being responsible, understanding people, and helping them do their best.”

Her growth was also shaped by the unique energy of Strathmore’s classrooms, places where theory met creativity and discipline sparked discovery. “The lecturers always encouraged us to think independently and aim for excellence,” she shares. That drive for excellence would later shape one of her most memorable moments on campus.

“One unforgettable experience was during a law class presentation about partnerships,” she recalls. “My group decided to make it more engaging by turning it into a short play. I got a little too into character and ended up playfully slapping my classmate as part of the act! It turned out to be one of the most entertaining presentations we have ever had, though.”

Moments like those, filled with laughter, collaboration, and shared learning, became the heart of Senita’s experience.

The lessons she carries from Strathmore extend far beyond textbooks. “The programme taught me to think critically, manage time effectively, and approach problems with a business mindset,” she says. “It also taught me how to present ideas clearly and work under pressure.”

But perhaps the most enduring influence came from Strathmore’s core values of integrity, excellence, and service to others. “The emphasis on integrity taught me to always do the right thing, even when no one’s watching,” she reflects. “Striving for excellence pushed me to give my best, while the spirit of service helped me appreciate the importance of helping others succeed.”

Now, as she prepares to graduate, Senita stands tall as a woman who has grown into her purpose. She plans to pursue further studies in finance and build a career that merges analytical skill with human understanding.

For those still walking the same path she once did, her advice is simple,
“Don’t underestimate your coursework. Every project and presentation builds the skills you will need later. Connect with people, learn from your mistakes, and enjoy the experience.”

Asked to summarize her journey in three words, she doesn’t hesitate.
“Challenging. Rewarding. Transformative.”
