Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a distant concept, it’s here, actively reshaping industries, careers, and redefining economies at an unprecedented pace. But the big questions remain: Can you truly make money with AI, or is it just another passing trend? Will AI replace jobs or create new opportunities? And when it comes to career success, what holds more weight: competence or credibility? These are the thought-provoking dilemmas every working professional and aspiring job-seeker is grappling with. The answers are not always clear, but one thing is certain: the future belongs to those who are ready to adapt, innovate, and grow. So, where do you stand in this evolving landscape?
Last week, on 7th March, we welcomed and hosted our #SUAlumni back for an unforgettable North Start Club Get-Together! From different graduating classes and diverse career paths, alumni reunited not only to reminisce about their university days but also to reconnect, share knowledge, and inspire one another.
As they navigate the complexities of today’s world, our alumni, too, are contemplating these pressing questions. This timely gathering provided a meaningful opportunity for them to engage in stimulating discussions, foster valuable connections, and explore the evolving demands of the modern workforce. Throughout the event, participants openly exchanged insights, recounting pivotal career moments, valuable lessons, and the unique paths that shaped their journeys. Their stories offered not only practical advice but also inspiration, shedding light on how different challenges and opportunities influence professional trajectories.
Even as AI continues to advance at an unprecedented rate, one fundamental question remains at the forefront: How are you branding yourself in this new era? In a world where automation is replacing routine tasks, what sets you apart? Is it your ability to innovate, your adaptability, or the unique value you bring to the table?
Define your purpose and commit to growth. The world, and AI, is evolving at an unstoppable pace, and the ability to unlearn, learn, and relearn is what separates those who thrive from those who fall behind. You may have heard the saying, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” but let’s be real, that’s just a mindset block. You are fully capable of learning and adapting. No matter how difficult or overwhelming something seems, being open to growth is the key. Success isn’t just about intelligence; it’s about belief and action. The reality? Someone with half your IQ is earning ten times more than you, not because they’re more talented, but because they don’t let self-doubt hold them back. If that doesn’t light a fire under you, what will?
As you build your skills, actively connect with people who inspire, challenge, and open doors for you. The right network can fast-track your journey from where you are to where you want to be. Show up. Attend that conference. Ask questions. Start conversations. You never know who might offer the insight, opportunity, or connection that changes everything. Opportunities don’t always knock, you have to go find them. But while you’re chasing success, don’t forget the most important investment: you. Your body, mind, and mental well-being are the foundation of everything you do. What good is success if you’re too burned out to enjoy it? Staying sharp, energized, and mentally strong is just as important as networking and career growth. The #SUAlumni team hosts a monthly hike, a chance to unplug, move your body, refresh your mind, and connect with like-minded individuals in a relaxed setting. It’s not just about fitness; it’s about balance, clarity, and overall well-being.
“I love mentoring. I wouldn’t want those behind me to go through what I did.” As you navigate your journey, remember, you’re not walking it alone. There are others watching, learning, and hoping to follow in your footsteps. Your progress can inspire, but your guidance can transform. Mentorship isn’t just about giving back, it’s about paving the way. Help those behind you avoid the struggles you faced. Share your knowledge, offer support, and be the person you once needed. So, don’t just climb the ladder of success, reach back and lift others up. Open doors, share knowledge, and be the guide you once needed.
This spirit of mentorship, collaboration, and shared success is exactly what the North Star Club embodies—a dynamic community where alumni come together to support, guide, and inspire each other. Whether you’re a recent graduate stepping into the professional world or a seasoned leader looking to give back, this program is designed to enrich careers, foster meaningful relationships, and strengthen the collective SU brand.
