While many spend Saturdays resting or catching up on personal tasks, the Housekeeping and Cafeteria team chose a different path, one marked by compassion and service.
On Saturday, November 1, 2025, Team 37 participated in a Service to Society activity at the Sisters of Mercy in Lang’ata, reaffirming their commitment to compassion and community service beyond the workplace.
Upon arrival, the team was warmly welcomed by the Sisters, whose serene environment reflected years of quiet service and devotion. The day’s activities focused on providing practical support where it was most needed. The team cleaned the compound, assisted with various household chores, and split firewood. Later, alongside the Sisters, they helped serve and care for 56 children, ensuring each one received attention and companionship.

In addition to their time and effort, the team made generous donations of essential items, including nine packs of adult diapers, two bales of Chapati flour, thirty mattresses donated by the Administration, rice, packs of tissue, bar soap, and cereals to support the Sisters in their mission of caring for the children. What began as an act of service quickly grew into a moving day of connection and kindness, leaving everyone inspired by the humility and hope that come from serving others.
As the day drew to a close, there was a shared sense of fulfillment among the team, a quiet joy rooted not in recognition but in the simple act of giving. The experience at the Sisters of Mercy served as a reminder that true service extends beyond duty; it is an expression of humanity that strengthens bonds and nurtures empathy.
In her farewell speech the Sister-in-Charge expressed her heartfelt gratitude, noting “ You know we Sisters depend on the kindness and generosity of those who choose to give. We are deeply touched with what you have done today. Your presence is a true blessing to us.”
Walking away from Lang’ata that afternoon, the Housekeeping team carried with them a renewed resolve to continue being a force for good within and beyond their community.
The team looks forward to continuing such initiatives as part of their ongoing commitment to service and community care.
