#Who inspires you within Strathmore University?
Father’s Day is a special occasion to honour and appreciate the father figures who have played a significant role in our lives. Within Strathmore University, several students have taken the opportunity to express their gratitude and admiration for the father figures who have inspired and guided them during their campus journey. In this heartfelt dedication, we highlight some of these exceptional individuals who have made a lasting impact on the lives of the students.
“According to me, the word ‘father’ means something completely different. It doesn’t refer to a superhero or a sire, but rather to someone who serves as a life user guide. This person has the ability to see beyond what you can perceive and brings that foresight home to help you understand. They protect you from many of life’s challenges, especially during times of youthful crisis, and accompany you on your life journey. This individual is a teacher, a mentor, someone with whom you can have meaningful conversations. They listen to you without judgement, and although they may not always provide a solution, you walk away with peace of mind. When asked who this figure is to me on campus, I don’t have to think twice—this is definitely Director Roy Were. If you’ve never had a conversation with him, I encourage you to try, and you will be amazed. Sir, big up to you and Happy Father’s day to you!” – Michael Omondi, a fourth-year student, Actuarial Science
“On this Father’s Day, I celebrate Mr. Daniel Kurui, an exceptional lecturer at Strathmore University. With genuine care and support, he champions student initiatives and fosters a nurturing environment. His dedication and understanding make him a cherished mentor. Thank you, sir, for making a difference in our lives.” – Gideon Wafula, Strathmore University Male Academic representative, 2022-2023
“Fr. Jude Karuhanga has positively influenced my life, especially because he has taught me some qualities of compassion, humility, support, love, guidance, and so much wisdom. To me, he’s a father figure, and he will remain an inspiration to me. I would like to wish him a happy Father’s Day.” – Derrick Otieno, CPA student.
“Dr. Kamudhayi has left an incredible mark in my heart and mind. He has been an exceptional educator, and his unwavering passion for diplomacy, security, and conflict management has not only imparted knowledge but also ignited a fire within me to pursue my dreams in these fields. I’m looking forward to following in his footsteps and soaring even beyond, making a meaningful contribution to the fields I’ll major in, just as he has. I appreciate you during this Father’s Day.” – Marion Wambulwa, fourth-year International Studies student.
“Thank you Dr. Vincent Ogutu and Mr. Luis Burallo for shaping my career. With you, I found men of character and value that I envy to be like… Prof. David Sperling is a man worth studying. To reach those heights and still be in good shape is a wonder…
Mr. Anthony Kahindi is a kind, courageous, and confident man. He has it all together. I see an elder in him in the future. Happy Father’s day my superheroes and may you live long.” – Samuel Omambia, 2023 BBIT graduate
“Someone who will always think of you first and be open to share with you every important information is the true definition of a father to me. Having someone who can set aside his time and have a one-on-one conversation with you to mentor you and make sure you are grabbing the most important opportunities is worth being called a father. My mentor Mr. Paul Ochieng qualifies for all this. I celebrate him so much during this special day.” – Cliffborn Otieno, second -year BCOM student
“Dear lecturer Noah Otinga, I would like to appreciate the advice you normally give us. One such kind that I do follow every day is this one quote you like telling us: To apply ourselves. Happy Father’s Day to you, you’re such an inspiration to me.” – Alex Mwaniki, CPA student

Your mentorship extended beyond academics, shaping my character and perspective. I am forever grateful for your wisdom and dedication. May Father’s Day bring you joy, appreciation, and the warmth of knowing how much you mean to me.” – Kingsley Kim, BBIT fourth-year student
