Amid the hustle of campus life, as students juggle academic pursuits with extracurricular activities, they often find themselves contemplating the future. “Will I secure a job after graduation? What opportunities await me? What are the common career paths for my major? What skills are employers looking for?” These pressing questions linger in their minds, shaping and influencing their choices and aspirations on their transformative student experience on campus.
On 21st June 2024, Strathmore University hosted its 18th Annual Career Fair at Graduation Square, featuring a diverse array of esteemed organizations and institutions offering invaluable career advice, mentorship, guidance, and networking opportunities. Notable organizations includedCipla, Fairmont The Norfolk, USAID, BDO, Konvergenz Network Solutions, L’Oreal East Africa, Standard Chartered Bank, among manyothers from sectors spanning finance, consulting, healthcare, hospitality and technology.
As soon-to-be graduates, freshmen, and staff, traversed the campus grounds, they passby the lively tents set up their curiosity piqued by the array of opportunities offered by various organizations The event served as a pivotal networking opportunity, facilitating direct engagement with HR representatives and industry leaders. Discussions delved beyond mere job applications, exploring industry trends, organizational cultures, and essential skill sets crucial for strategic career decisions.
Participating organizations expressed their commitment to nurturing a talent pool and illuminating students’ about career pathways and opportunities and highlighting the career fair’s role in bridging the gap between graduates and prospective employers. This focus underscored the event’s significance in facilitating meaningful connections aimed at mutual growth and development. Moreover, the Fair reinforced Strathmore University’s dedication to alumni success. It encouraged soon-to-be-graduates to stay connected with the university’s extensive alumni network and utilize ongoing career services. This support ensures that alumni stay updated on industry developments and benefit from continued guidance in their professional careers.
In essence, Strathmore University’s 18th Annual Career Fair transcended mere job hunting; it served as a strategic platform for graduates to forge vital connections, gain industry insights, and lay the groundwork for sustained career success.
