Master of Applied Philosophy and Ethics (MAPE)

The Master of Applied Philosophy and Ethics (MAPE) programme is designed for those who would like to advance academically and professionally in Philosophy and apply its content and methods to all areas of human endeavor. Graduate students are required to take all core courses in the programme as well as a research project.

Graduate students will be prepared to discover and to train others in the fundamental Philosophical tools and concepts in depth and apply them to the most common areas of human activity with a clear ethical component. The program opens the way for candidates who may wish to develop further, their knowledge in Applied Philosophy and Ethics through research, with the intention of progressing to doctoral studies.

Requirements for Application for Postgraduate studies at Strathmore University

  • All applicants MUST meet the minimum entry requirements for the respective graduate program they wish to apply for (verified by the School of Graduate Studies).
  • All applicants MUST sit and pass our Graduate Entrance Exam (GEE). The GEE comprises of a written exam followed by an oral interview. The written exam entails English comprehension and grammar, arithmetic and an essay related to the course you are applying for. In addition, applicants applying for Master of Science in Information Technology (MSc. IT) have a compulsory programming question also included. The written test duration is 1 hour 40 minutes. Once the applicant has completed and passed the written exam, they are scheduled for an oral interview.

1. Complete the Graduate Application Form (Download the form here).
2. Provide two (2) completed Reference Forms from former undergraduate/graduate professors particularly qualified to attest to the applicant’s qualification for graduate study (download reference form here).
3. Provide certified copies of undergraduate degree certificate and transcript of records (TOR) in English giving full details of subjects studied and grades/marks obtained.
4. Provide a certified copy of your Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education-KCSE certificate (Secondary/High School Certificate or its equivalent).
5. Attach an updated Curriculum Vitae/Resume. Please use the Europass CV template (http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu).
6. 2 current passport size photos.
7. Provide a copy of National Identity Card (ID) or a copy of Passport (bio-data page).
8. Provide English language proficiency results where required.

NB: Certified copies: Please note the copies of the certificates and transcripts should be certified by the awarding institution or by an advocate of the high court.

We encourage our applicants to visit relevant GMAT, GRE websites which give some sample tests. This revision will assist the applicant to prepare for the GEE test.
