Strathmore University will provide students with theoretical knowledge, research skills, practical, and real-world experience to address the major needs associated with international relations and conflict studies. MAIR enables students to specialize in the twin areas of Diplomacy & Foreign Policy, Security and International Law, and Peace & Conflict. This unique blend has been achieved by providing an intersection of the academic realms of international studies, conflict studies, international law, international security, foreign policy, and diplomacy. This provides a broad spectrum of skill sets for specific contexts which are essential for engagement in the highly dynamic domestic, regional, and international environments.

1. Holders of First Class or Upper Second-Class honours degrees in the suitable academic fields from recognized universities, or 

2. Holders of other related qualifications from recognized universities, considered by the Academic Council as equivalent to a First Class or Upper Second-Class degree, or 

3. Holders of Lower Second-Class degrees plus postgraduate diplomas or professional certificates from a recognized educational institution and with at least two-year relevant work experience from the date of graduation in international relations and conflict sector. 

Apart from meeting the above requirements the applicants are required to attend an oral interview and pass the Strathmore Graduate Entrance Examination (GEE) with a score of at least 50%.

1. Duly filled in Graduate Application Form (Download the form here).

2. Two (2) completed Reference Forms from your professional background or from former professors particularly qualified to attest to the applicant’s qualification for graduate study (Download reference form here).

3. Certified copies of undergraduate degree certificate and transcript of records (TOR) in English giving full details of subjects studied and grades/marks obtained.

4. Certified copy of your Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education-KCSE certificate (Secondary/High School Certificate or its equivalent).

5. Updated Curriculum Vitae. Please use the Europass CV template (http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu).

6. One (1) current passport size photos.

7. A copy of National Identity Card (ID) or a copy of Passport (bio-data page).

8. Ksh. 2,500 Interview fee is payable on the interview day.

9. Applicants with foreign qualifications/degrees are required to provide a Letter of Recognition from CUE (The Commission of University Education) which can be applied through the following link: https://recognition.cue.or.ke/public/

NB: Certified copies: Please note the copies of the certificates and transcripts should be certified by the awarding institution or by an advocate of the high court.

If the applicant meets the entry requirements, they are then invited to take a written Graduate Entrance Exam (GEE). All applicants MUST take and pass our GEE that comprises a written exam followed by an oral interview. The written exam entails English comprehension and grammar, arithmetic plus an essay. The GEE is administered virtually.
