Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain and Operations Management

Supply chain and operations management are concerned with the flow of materials, information and funds between suppliers, producers, and service organizations, including customers. It calls for an integration in the procurement of goods and services, inventory management, transportation to and from production and service facilities, distribution of goods and services, and the information system infrastructure to support the processes.

At the core of it is a focus on quality management, lean systems, and information systems implementation. The programme is designed to integrate supply chain, logistics, operations and digitalization. Special emphasis is placed on Production, Logistics, Big Data, Block Chain, automation and artificial intelligence and how they will impact Supply Chain and Operations in the near and far future.

It exposes students to a better view of the supply chain with emphasis on the flexibility and performance in a complex and uncertain business environment.

  • A career in supply chain and operations management is an appealing prospect to those who want to work in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, inventory and warehousing, sourcing and purchasing, supply chain systems, and planning and control activities.

  • Students are well prepared to work in a wide range of careers in the private sector, government and not-for-profit organization.

    • 50% of the companies Globally will use IT in Supply Chain and Logistics

    • 57% of companies believe that supply chain management gives them a competitive edge

    • Focal areas in SCM: artificial intelligence, automation, data and analytics and mobile-enabled customer service

• KCSE minimum mean aggregate of B- or

• 6 credits at O level, A level 3 principal passes or

• IB Diploma of 30 points out of 45;

• A distinction in the Strathmore Entrance Exam;

• Proven leadership skills in school and community and outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities are an added advantage.

All candidates meeting the entry requirements are required to sit the University entrance examination in English and Mathematics as well as an oral interview.

Interviews are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 am.

 

N/B : Students holding qualifications outside of EAC member states (Uganda/Tanzania & Rwanda) are required to equate their national qualification with the Kenyan qualification through Kenya National Qualification Authority (KNQA)

Candidates are required to bring the following:

• Original and copies of relevant academic certificates.

• 2 passport-size photographs;

• A photocopy of birth certificate or National ID or passport,

Kshs. 2,000 entrance examination fee.
