Bachelor of Science in Computer Networks and Cyber Security

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Networks and Cyber Security is a course that prepares candidates to become specialists in the Telecommunications, Computer Networks, and Systems Security industry.

The programme is designed to meet the increasing demand in the marketplace for Telecommunication and Data Networks professionals with a wide knowledge of telecommunication networks, mobile networks, computer networks, emerging technologies, next-generation networks, technical skills in information systems security, and information technology business management.

  • In addition to telecommunications and data network, the programme prepares candidates to handle systems security issues by training on the challenging task of identifying and delivering relevant solutions to threats that endanger informa- tion systems.

  • In this regard, the candidates will be well prepared on systems security issues involving the analysis of computer systems - networks and applications - in order to assess their ability to protect against breach and disruption.

  • They will also be equipped with skills on system security processes such as vulnerability testing and auditing to identify points of risk and developing solutions to mitigate the risks.

Applicants must meet the following requirement:

• KCSE aggregate grade of B.
• 6 credits at O-level. A level 3 principal passes
• IB Diploma 34 points out of 45.
• A distinction in the Strathmore Entrance Exam.
• Proven leadership skills in school & community and outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities are an added advantage

All candidates meeting the entry requirement are required to sit the University entrance examination in English, Mathematics and an oral interview.

Interviews are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 am

Candidates are required to bring originals and photocopies of all relevant academic certificate, birth certificate or ID or passport, 2 passport-size photographs and KES 2,000 entrance exam fee

Intakes for the full-time programme are in April and June.

Only Strathmore DBIT graduates can qualify for exemptions.
