Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification provides you with a sound base on which to build a successful career in accounting and finance. As an ACCA trainee, you will develop a range of skills and knowledge, which will enable you to work in any aspect of finance in any country throughout the world, without restriction, creating a world of opportunities for your future.
Accountancy is about being in control – of your job, your finances, your life and your future. Those who have reached the top and are reaping the rewards come from many different backgrounds, the ACCA qualification opens many doors in the career world. With ACCA, you can reach your goals as quickly or as slowly as you want.
There are two full-time courses each year:
- 1st semester - January to March
- 2nd semester - March to June
- 3rd Semester - July to September
- 4th Semester - September to December
Enrolled students will be given course materials from ACCA’s official publishers.

- 2nd semester - early July to early November.

Student Registration is open to candidates who have any of the following qualifications:
- IGCSE: 6 credits including English and Mathematics and GCE: 3 B’s
- A level: At least 2 principal passes
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Examinations: Mean grade C+ as well as a C in both English and Mathematics
- CPA Part 1 holders
- Accounting Technician Course (ATC): Intermediate and Final
- Degree from a recognised university
- Foundation in Accounting course certificate
Strathmore University conducts an Entrance Examination which includes tests in Mathematics, English, and concludes with an oral interview.
- The exams are offered every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00 a.m.
- Candidates must bring 2 passport size photographs, along with the original and photocopies of relevant academic and professional certificates.
- There is a Ksh 2,000 entrance examination fee.
Students with University Degrees are eligible for exemptions:
- Relevant Degrees: For instance, a Bachelor of Commerce with an Accounting option may grant exemption from Knowledge papers.
- Non-relevant Degrees: For example, a Bachelor of Science or Arts & ATC final may grant exemption from two papers in the Foundation Stage.
Note: These exemptions are subject to confirmation by ACCA.
ACCA finalists are also eligible for exemptions in the BCOM program.
For the June Examinations:
- 8th March: Early exam entry (online)
- 8th April: Standard exam entry
- 8th May: Late exam entry
For the December Examinations:
- 8th September: Early exam entry
- 8th October: Standard exam entry
- 8th November: Late exam entry
All students must pay the ACCA Registration and Examination fees directly to ACCA by the specified deadlines.

The ACCA qualification exam and study is grouped into two main groups, the Fundamentals and the professional papers. You will need to complete 14 papers in total. A maximum of nine papers in the Fundamentals level are available for exemption.
Attendance and progress reports will be sent regularly to Companies sponsoring employees to our courses. The University is recognized by the Directorate of Industrial Training for the purpose of reimbursement of fees. The names of students sponsored must be submitted to the Directorate before the commencement of the course.
