Theme: Unlocking the Big Four Agenda through Research and Innovation
The Strathmore University Research and Innovation Symposium 2019 will take place from 4th to 8th November 2019. The second installment of a biennial series, it will bring together staff and students of Strathmore University, as well as participants from industry and government, to share their research work and nurture their collaborations.
Taking into account the research priorities identified and articulated by the National Commission for Science and Technology (NACOSTI), for the 2018-2021 period, the symposium will focus on highlighting the role multidisciplinary research and innovation can play in the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals through the Kenyan Government’s Big Four Agenda, which focuses broadly on manufacturing, affordable housing, universal health coverage, and food security.
By promoting an atmosphere of inquiry and debate, the symposium will encourage all participants to seek the highest quality in their work. It will challenge them to identify the possible positive and negative impacts of their work on society, and bring forth practical proposals on how the positive impacts can be maximised while the negative ones stymied. It will also enable participants to identify areas for further collaborative research.
In recognition of the interdisciplinary nature of the research and innovation at Strathmore University, theoretical and practical papers are invited in any of the following areas.
