1. The Association of African Business Schools Research Excellence workshop on the training held on 21st -23rd May 2014 at Strathmore Business School and 11 SU staff members were trained.


2. The Research office held a strategy workshop on 1st July 2014 at the Boma Hotel, Nairobi to draft the University Research Strategy for 2015-2020.


3. A Training workshop on Research Ethics held at the University of Nairobi from 31st March to 2nd April 2014 and was attended by 10 SU lecturers.


4. A Training workshop on the Critical appraisal of Research held at the University of Nairobi from 16th -20th June and was attended by 3 members of SU staff.


5. Pre grant writing workshop facilitated by Research Africa and the SU Research office held at Strathmore University on 4th August 2014.

 

6. Grant writing workshop for SU staff facilitated by Prof. Frances Chandler from Sauder Business School, Canada held at Strathmore University on 20th August 2014.

 

7. Bioethics Training for SU staff at University of Nairobi, Medical form the 27th - 29th August 2014.

 

Ongoing Research Projects

a) IDRC-AKIBA-Mashinani project
This is a two year (February 2013 – February 2015) multi disciplinary research project titled ‘Improving Access to Justice and Basic Services in the Informal Settlements of Nairobi’ in partnership with Strathmore Law School, Strathmore School of Finance and Applied Economics (SFAE),University of Nairobi Department of Planning, Muungano wa Wanavijiji and Akiba Mashinani Trust (AMT). The project focuses on the Mukuru slum (Mukuru Kwa Njenga and Mukuru Kwa Reuben) with the objective of generating better understanding of land tenure and basic services and developing tools and solutions for improving conditions of the settlement inhabitants.
