Strathmore University Students in Free Enterprise Club (SU-SIFE) came second in the discussion forum dubbed ' Is Africa ready for leaders of tomorrow? The forum was held on 25th May at the Pan Afric Hotel. For the forum, each team was given ten minutes to make a presentation followed by a five minute question-answer session.
The forum was held to commemorate Africa Liberation Day (ALD) which was first celebrated on 25th May 1963, the day the Organization of African Unity (now African Union) was founded. Other SIFE teams that participated were Africa Nazarene University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta University, Maseno University, and St Paul's University.
The guest speaker at the event was Mr James Shikwati, the Director of Inter Region Economic Network (IREN). He was so impressed with Strathmore's presentation that he will feature some of the team's comments in 'The African Executive' an online magazine he edits.
The team used the forum to prepare for SIFE's national competitions to be held on 12th July. The team that will win at the nationals will represent the country at the international competition to be held in Singapore in October. |
