Ms Christine Njagi-Ngunyangi The University's School of Finance and Applied Economics (SFAE) is the latest addition to the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) University Chapter Program. SFAE was launched in May this year. It is offering three degrees in the Bachelor of Business Science (BBS) programme. The degrees are BBS in Actuarial Science, Finance, and Financial Economics. Ms Christine Njagi-Ngunyangi, an Assistant Lecturer and the GARP University Chapter Director said that "there is a great opportunity for growth in the field of risk management. I believe the chapter will offer students a chance to explore their interests and prepare themselves for possible careers in risk. We look forward to collaborating with GARP's local professional chapter so both groups can share ideas on development in the field." Mr Godfrey Madigu, the Director of School of Accountancy added: "Strathmore University has taken an active role in supporting education in finance and related disciplines. There is a huge demand for courses specifically on risk and we are therefore committed to supporting a GARP chapter on campus." GARP has a total of 36 University Chapter Directors representing 30 academic institutions in 14 countries around the world.
